Safety shoe size guide – the right fit for safety and comfort
An optimally fitting safety shoe is crucial for occupational safety, comfort and health in everyday work – whether in the trades, in industry or in the warehouse. Incorrect footwear often leads to pressure points, fatigue or even injuries – and in the corporate environment to avoidable returns, absenteeism and additional costs. With the AAV shop size guide, you can reliably find the right size and width for your safety shoes - quickly, easily and practically. This ensures that PPE fits correctly in accordance with DGUV requirements and ensures the intended protection.
Why fit is so important
Safety shoes not only protect against impacts, penetration or moisture – they also have to fit ergonomically. Only if the length and width are optimally chosen, the shoe offers a secure hold, relieves joints and enables fatigue-free work - even during long shifts. For companies, this means satisfied employees, fewer complaints, more safety and productivity.
Step-by-step sizing guide
1. Preparation
- Place an A4 sheet of paper on the floor and secure it with adhesive tape.
- Place your foot in the middle of it (for shoe size over 46, please use a larger sheet).
2. Create a foot outline
- Trace the foot completely at a 90° angle.
- Measure length: heel to longest toe.
- Measure width: on the ball of the foot – where the foot is widest.
3. Enter values and determine the right size
- Enter the measured values in the size chart.
- Tip: Measure in the afternoon - then the foot size is most natural.
